Setting up iPhone to send 1and1 email

The Apple iPhone does a good job of importing your email accounts but you may find it doesn't set up your 1and1 email accounts properly to enable the sending of email. If you receive a error message indicating one of the recipient addresses is invalid perform the following procedure on your iPhone

1. Open Settings
2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Select your 1and1 email account
4. Scroll down and select SMTP
5. Select the 1and1 smtp account (smtp.1and1.com)
6. Enter your email address in the User Name field (it's probably blank)
7. Enter you email password in the Password field (it's probably blank)
8. Ensure your Server Port is 587 (remember changing this when you setup Outlook?)

Make sure your 1and1 account is your Default account

1. Open Settings
2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Scroll down and select Default Account
4. Select your 1and1 email account
